The integration into NATO and the EU remains an absolute priority for Georgia and this will not change, Georgia's new State Minister for integration into European and Euro-Atlantic organizations Tornike Gordadze said today.

"First and foremost, I want to thank the President and the Prime Minister for great confidence," he said. "I would like to thank my predecessor - Gia Baramidze, who has conducted great productive work."

Gordadze said that the EU and NATO are the absolute priorities of Georgia's foreign policy and this will not change.

"When we talk about these priorities, the matter rests in the specific aspirations, rather than abstract ones," he said. "Membership in the European Union and NATO will bring benefit to every Georgian citizen. NATO membership means security. It is impossible to think about the future without security. Regarding the EU, joining the organization will have great impact on Georgia's economic potential. This will attract great investments and create many jobs. Free trade with the European Union and the establishment of a visa-free regime have fundamental importance."

Georgian Former Deputy Foreign Minister Tornike Gordadze began working as State Minister for Integration into European and Euro-Atlantic organizations on Friday. His predecessor Baramidze puts his candidature in the parliamentary elections from the National Movement in Batumi.
