President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev congratulated the President of Azerbaijan on the Republic Day, AzerTaj state news agency reported.
He noted that the increasing influence of Azerbaijan in the international arena contributes to the expansion of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation.
In his congratulatory message, Medvedev said that Russia hopes to further strengthen relations between the two countries in economic and humanitarian spheres, adding that the basis of the interactions are old traditions of friendship between the two peoples, the commonality of views on the situation in the Caucasus, and ways to strengthen regional stability and security, possibility to prevent new economic and financial challenges, to realize large-scale projects for the benefit of both countries.
