BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. There are many highly innovative Slovenian companies that could offer Azerbaijan a great deal of expertise in the field of renewable energy, from hydro-power installations to solar panels, a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia told Trend.

"Slovenia has a particularly ambitious agenda when it comes to solar energy. On the other hand, the opportunities to invest in renewables in Slovenia are increasing as well. We have been working on streamlining the permitting process to make different kinds of investments in certain renewable energy projects more attractive," the source said.

According to the MFA, in general, Slovenian companies are keen to cooperate with Azerbaijan in various spheres.

"Slovenian companies are open to cooperation, particularly in the field of pharmaceutical and chemical industry; reconstruction of small hydropower plants; photovoltaics; information and communication technologies; infrastructure construction, electro technical industry, tourism (SPA) and agriculture, as long as the business climate is favorable," the ministry added.

Commenting Azerbaijan's gas supplies to the EU, the MFA pointed out that Slovenia supports all efforts that will contribute to the diversification of gas supply sources in Central and Southeastern Europe.

Meanwhile, the source also noted that economic cooperation between Slovenia and Azerbaijan remains modest, with trade turnover between the two countries reaching 27.3 million euros in 2022.

"Trade in goods and services prevails. Slovenian mainly exports pharmaceutical products. There are no investment flows between the countries, however," the ministry said.
