Over the past 24 hours, Armenian military 115 times violated ceasefire on various parts of the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops, said the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan Sept. 21.

The positions of Azerbaijani armed forces, located on the nameless heights of the Kehnegishlag village of Agstafa district, were fired at from the positions located in the Parakavar village of Ijevan district. Azerbaijani positions located in the Kokhanebi village of Tovuz district took fire from the positions located in the Chinari village of Armenia's Berd district.

Azerbaijani military was also fired at from positions near the Tapgaragoyunlu, Talish, Gulustan villages of the Goranboy district, the Chilyaburt, Goyarkh, Gizil Oba villages of the Terter district, the Novruzlu, Sarijali, Kengerli, Yusifjanli, Shikhlar, Merzili, Javahirli, Shuraabad villages of Agdam district, the Kuropatkino village of Khojavand district, the Horadiz, Garakhanbeyli, Ashagi Abdurrahmanli, Ashagi Seyidahmadli villages of Fizuli district and the Mehdili village of Jabrail district.

Armenians also opened fire from nameless heights in the Goranboy, Khojavand, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.

Azerbaijani armed forces, given the operational situation at the contact line of troops, inflicted 164 strikes to the enemy positions.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
