Torrential rains cause flooding in several regions of Georgia
Georgia, Tbilisi, Sept. 22 /Trend N.Kirtzkhalia/
Georgian city of Telavi and Akhmeta region (Eastern Georgia) were strongly affected by the floods caused by torrential rains in Kakheti region.
The river that burst its banks flooded the farmlands and first floors of homes in Telavi.
The flooding killed domestic animals, destroyed crops, spoilt winter food reserves and washed-out bridges and roads.
The damage caused to the population is being estimated.
Authorities promised to compensate the damage caused by natural disaster to the population.
Meanwhile, weather forecasters promise torrential rains with thunder in eastern Georgia today.
