Azerbaijan, Nakchivan /corr. Trend E.Mammadov /The 5th session of the Supreme Assembly of Nakchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan commenced on 8 January.
The session's agenda includes issues results of the social-economic development of Nakchivan in 2007, implementation of the 2007 Public budget, approval of the 2008 Public budget and approval of the 2008 budget of Nakchivan State Social Protection Fund, Trend Regional Correspondent reports. In addition, during the session amendments are expected to be made to the Law on the Ombudsman of Nakchivan and to implement a law on Bar Association of Nakchivan. During the discussions, reports will be delivered by the Ombudsman of Nakchivan, as well as by the Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Council of Europe's Congress for Local and Regional Authorities.
The territory of Nakchivan covers 5,500 sq.m which makes up 6.4% of Azerbaijan's territory. Nakchivan has seven administrative regions, Babaek, Sherur, Ordubad, Sederek, Shahbuz, Julfa and Kangarli and a population of 380,200.
