Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 March / corr. Trend R. Hafizoglu, R. Abdullayev/ The attempts by Hamas movement to establish relations with the ruling Palestinian movement Fatah can address a number of problems in the region. "The talks between Fatah and Hamas serve the interests of Palestinians," Isam Mohammad, the dean of the Islamic University of Gaza said to Trend .
The Hamas Islamic Resistance Movement who is fighting in Palestine and the ruling Fatah movement representing Palestinian administration agreed to begin peace talks on 5 April, Reuters said on 25 March.
"The peace talks between the two movements is critical to the solution of a number of problems," Mohammad said by electronic mail from Gaza on 29 March. The restoration of the peace process can bring together the members of both movements not only in Palestine, but also outside its boundaries, he said.
"The restoration of the talks contradicts the interests of Israel in the region. However, by striving for dialogue with Hamas Fatah denies the opinion that the Zionists are closer to it," he said.
According to Mohammad, Israel will exert pressure on the Palestinian administration to stop Fatah-Hamas talks on half-way.
The Turkish expert on Palestine Ahmad Varol said that the restoration of dialogue between Fatah and Hamas can be considered as a push to the establishment of stability in the region. "Even if Fatah and Hamas will delay the talks, the uniting of both movements can be assessed as uniting against the common enemy," Varol said by electronic from Istanbul on 29 March.
According to Varol, Israel and Fatah do not have another way out but to restore a dialogue with Hamas.
The Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert said to media recently that though the vast majority Palestinians commits acts of terrorism against Israeli population, the Israeli government is not going to end talks with the moderate Palestinian factions. Olmert also condemned the rocket fires from Gaza to Israel.
The Premier said that Israel is not going to make concessions to those who fire rockets to Israel. The Israeli government will cooperate with Hamas through other ways and these ways will be very painful.
