Local Military Forces Charged with Security in Afghanistan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 August / Trend corr. D.Khatinoglu / The National Army of Afghanistan is charged to provide security in the country from 5 August, General Muhammad Zahir Azimi, the spokeperson of the Afghanistan Defence Ministry, told Trend via telephone from Kabul on 5 August.

According to Azimi, at present, 75,000 soldiers serve their military service in the army in Afghanistan. About $9bln was allocated to train militaries within a year. The Defence Ministry takes all efforts to transform security in Kabul to the National Army until the end of August.

"The Defence Ministry plans to increase the training rate of militaries (86,000) until the end of this year," Azimi said.
