Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 August / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / If we get appeal to strengthen security of mosques functioning in Azerbaijan, we will discuss it, Madat Guliyev, the head of the Interior Ministry's Central Security Department, told Trend on 21 August.
According to the head of the department, yet they have not received any appeal by heads of mosques to strengthen their protection.
The blast took place at the Abu Bakir Mosque in U.Bunyadzade Street of Baku city at 08.50PM on 17 August.
An unknown man threw two RGD-1 grenades into the Mosque, breaking the Mosque's window with stone.
According to the official data, two men died in this incident, whilst unofficial source urged their number was three.
Guliyev also said that the Central Security Department was not instructed to strengthen the protection of state properties after the incident. "So far, such an incident has not taken place at facilities under our control," he stressed.
We may send appeal on security provision of the mosque to the relevant bodies as soon as this incident is clarified and legally assessed, Haji Gamat Suleymanov, Imam of the Abu Bakr Mosque, told Trend on 21 August.
