Georgia, Tbilisi, 11 Dec/ Trend corr N. Kirtskhalia/ The United States needs to pay more attention to democratization processes in Georgia, Irakli Alasaniya, former Georgian Ambassador to the UN, said while addressing Georgia-US business council in Washington. A week ago he resigned, but the invitation was not canceled.
"I hope the new administration led by the President-elect Barack Obama will put greater emphasis on democratization processes in Georgia. Political and democratic processes inherent in our country should also be covered by attention of new administration," Alasaniya said.
Republicans- New Rights opposition alliance is holding consultations with Alasaniya to nominate him for presidential election. Opposition hopes that pre-term election will be held in 2009. Alasaniya has not yet responded to these proposals.
