An international conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries, dedicated to the 90-th-anniversary of the Turkish Parliament was held in Baku.

An international conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries, dedicated to the 90-th-anniversary of the Turkish Parliament was held in Baku.

"Its main purpose is mutual support of Turkic-speaking countries in international organizations, as well as exchange of experience in the legislative process", Askerov said.

Turkic-speaking States Parliamentary Assembly was also established to preserve the language, culture and history in the Turkic-speaking countries, Askerov said.

Deputy chairman of the Turkish Parliament Nevzad Pakdil said that Turkic States should not lag behind the rapidly evolving world.

"Turkic world, covering the territory from Central Asia to the Caucasus, from the Caucasus to the Balkans is a tree with one root. Language connecting these people is the most important branch of this tree," Pakdil said.

Vice-Speaker of the Turkish Parliament noted the need for cooperation of Turkic states.

"Turkic-speaking States Parliamentary Assembly is the organization, uniting the parliamentarians of our countries. It will help us to build our future", deputy chairman of the Turkish Parliament said.

Head of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Azerbaijan-Turkey Nizami Jafarov condemned the Turkic-speaking countries not included in Turkic-speaking States Parliamentary Assembly. He also put forward a proposal to create a general Turkic alphabet.

The representation of the General Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries has been opened in Baku today.
