Azerbaijan has an average of 170-180 murders and attempted murders per year, First Deputy Attorney General Rustam Usubov said today.
"Slightly more than 10 cases go unsolved each year," he said. "However, we succeed in closing them the following year."
Usubov added that law enforcement agencies registered roughly 500-600 murder-related crimes per year in the early 1990s.
"Five criminal cases were closed this year, which remained unsolved from 2009," he said.
