Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan registers candidacy of several people upon decision by Supreme Court

According to the decision of the Supreme Court, the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan registered the candidacy of several persons. The decision was made Thursday at a meeting of the CEC.

CEC Secretary Natig Mammadov conveyed to CEC members the decision by the Supreme Court. According to him, the court decided upon registration of two people who have nominated their candidates on 57 and 79 constituencies.

Following the decision by the Supreme Court, the CEC decided to register these candidates. The meeting also reviewed the appeals of candidates to the CEC. Appropriate decisions were made on them.

The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
