Azerbaijani CEC: Election results to be presented to Constitutional Court by late November

The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) will submit the results of the parliamentary elections to the Constitutional Court by late November, CEC Secretary Natig Mammadov told Trend today.

The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) will submit the results of the parliamentary elections to the Constitutional Court by late November, CEC Secretary Natig Mammadov told Trend today.

"The final results must be presented to the court 20 days after the receipt of the protocols in accordance with the law," he said. "That is, the results will be submitted on Nov. 29."

Azerbaijan held the parliamentary elections Nov. 7. The voter turnout hit about 50.14 percent (roughly 2.48 million voters) in Azerbaijan, the CEC's Elections Information Center told Trend.

The CEC reported that 690 candidates were running for the parliamentary elections.

Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005.
