Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 6 / Trend M.Aliyev /

Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department Chief Ali Hasanov underscored that Azerbaijan, after gaining independence, chose the democratic electoral system proposed by the Council of Europe.

"After Azerbaijan became a member of the Council of Europe, we have chosen the path of coordinating the [country's] entire electoral system and all elections held in the country with the CE," Hasanov said at the courses organized by the Central Election Commission (CEC) for the chairmen of district election commissions on Tuesday.

The elections, which have been held in Azerbaijan since 1995, created favorable conditions to form the electoral system, he added.

He said the district electoral commissions are responsible not only for holding elections at the districts, They, public institutions, must regularly familiarize with the events taking place in the political life of the country and international arena.

"The elections are a dynamic process, because the legislative acts are being updated and improved. Therefore, the CEC courses have a major impact on the electoral process as a whole," he said.
