Former Interior Minister Bachan Akhalaia summoned to Prosecutor's office as a witness. The matter is the investigation of the violence in prisons, Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Archil Kbilashvili stated at the briefing.

Former Interior Minister Bachan Akhalaia summoned to Prosecutor's office as a witness. The matter is the investigation of the violence in prisons, Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Archil Kbilashvili stated at the briefing.

"Akhalaia is summoned by the investigator in connection with the case on abuse of power in the Department of Corrections," he said.

The chief prosecutor said Akhalaia is advised and should arrive to Prosecutor's office for questioning at 20:30.

It isn't the detention, because Akhalaia is called as a witness, Kbilashvili added.

Akhalaia returned to Georgia on Monday. He went abroad after his dismissal from the post of Minister at the end of October.
