The bombardment of the Gaza Strip as part of operation "Pillar of Cloud" is one of the "jewelry" precise operations during all modern military history, spokesman of Israeli Foreign Ministry Paul Hirshon said in an interview to RT TV channel.
Hirshon noted that victims counting shows that there are civilians among the victims indeed, but at the same time, they are far fewer compared to the militants.
He also pointed out that more than 800 missiles were launched from the Gaza Strip at peaceful areas of Israel during the year. More than two hundred missiles were launched during just last ten days.
The Israeli Air Force carried out attacks today, the second day of operations in the Gaza Strip, aimed at about a 100 targets and killing three members of the HAMAS movement's military wing, bringing the total number of killed Palestinians to at least 11.
Operation Pillar of Cloud has been a large scale operation carried out over the past four years. Tanks and naval ships are involved in the shelling of Gaza in addition to planes. Representatives of the Israeli political leadership and military command do not rule out a land invasion.
Last time Israel brought ground troops into the enclave was in the winter of 2008-2009. Then the victims of the operation amounted to about 1400 Palestinians.
