Venetian commission believes that the re-run parliamentary elections will pass in accordance with the Council of Europe standards, the Venetian commission of the Council of Europe chairman, Gianni Bukikkio told to the Azerbaijani journalists in Strasbourg, Trend reports.

As you know we have suggested some changes into the Electoral codex of Azerbaijan, but some of them were not taken into consideration. The suggested changes will help to match the elections to the world standards, he said.
We expect that the re-run elections will be the first step towards the democratic elections in the country and we are working in that direction, he assured.
I have visited Baku at the eve of November 2006 elections and personally met the president and some officials, the chairman said, adding that his second visit to Baku will take place in the second part of 2006. Probably it will be in November. But its not yet sure, he concluded.
