Azeri President received World Bank Director for infrastructural sector of Europe and Central Asia

On July 31, the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the delegation headed by the director of the World Bank for infrastructural sector of Europe and Central Asia Peter Thomson. The meeting focused on the economic development of Azerbaijan,Trend reports.

Saying that the large-scale oil and gas projects realized in the country created opportunities for the strengthening of the oil sector, as well as private business and infrastructure, and that Azerbaijan implements an economic policy which ensures the demands of the population, Aliyev said that this policy is capable to keep macro-economical stability.

Noting that the World Bank observes the successes of Azerbaijan economy with a great interest, Thomson pointed out that last year Azerbaijan became the leader in the world for economic growth.

According to the information received from the Baku office of the Bank, within the meetings, the guests got familiar with the process of implementation of the projects, as well as the prospects of the cooperation in the spheres of energy, transport, water supply, sewerage system and clean-up of oil-polluted lands in Absheron.

Within the visit started from July 27, the sector director held meetings with the finance minister Samir Sharifov, minister of industry and energy Natig Aliyev, the chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan National Bank Elman Rustamov and the head of Azersu OSC Nizameddin Rzayev.

The visit will last until August 2. Besides, the guest met with the prime-minister Artur Rasizade.
