Over Past 9 Months, Azeri Law-Enforcement Bodies Received 55 Appeals from Citizens regarding Violation of Their Rights

At the Human rights in legislation of Azerbaijan: realities and prospects conference, the Deputy Interior Minister of Azerbaijan, Oruj Zalov, said that over the past 9 months of 2006, the law-enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan received 55 appeals from the citizens regarding violation of human rights, Trend reports.

According to him, they include violation of citizen rights, property rights, elections rights, etc.

Over 2000-2005 and 2006, 487 employees of the law-enforcement bodies have received various punishments for roughly behaving with the citizens. 32 of them have been instituted to criminal responsibility, 31 transferred to other job, 6 decreased in rank, 81 dismissed from bodies and 331 sustained administrative measures.
