Georgian PM: Georgia Receive First Gas from Shahdaniz

Today Georgia receives 4 mln. cubic meters of gas per day via oil gas main, Gardabani-Garadagh, Trend Special Correspondent to Tbilisi reports. Zurab Nogaideli, Georgia Prime-Minister said during the meeting of the Georgian Government that the country will receive the gas via the South-Caucasian Gas Pipeline (SCP) in 10-15 days.

According to him, Georgia has receives gas from Azerbaijan in the daily volume of 3 mln. cubic meters starting January 12, 2007, and starting from January 15, 2007, Georgia has begun receiving other 1 mln. cubic meters produced from the first well on Shahdaniz Field.

The Georgian Prime-Minister said that Georgia could diversify the gas supplies, and now the blue fuel will be supplied to the country via the three routes вЂ" the Gardabani-Garadagh Pipleine, SCP, and Tbilisi-Vladikavkaz Pipeline. Georgia receives gas from Russia via the latter one.

Russia is currently supplying Georgia with 4 mln. cubic meters of gas per day. Notably, in winter, Georgia consumes 8 mln. cubic meters of gas.

The Georgian Prime-Minister commissioned Nikalos Gilauri, Georgia Energy Minister, to follow all the gas supplies to Georgia extremely carefully.

I ask you to pay particular attention to gas supplied from Shahdaniz, and to ensure uninterrupted gas transportation from Azerbaijan offshore gas condensate field, he said.
