The visit of the Head of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and Rapporteur of the organization on Nagorno-Karabakh, Goran Lennmarker, to Azerbaijan concluded. Lennmarker left for Ashkhabad to observe the presidential elections in Turkmenistan on February 11, 2007, Trend reports. Within the visit to the region, Lennmarker arrived in Azerbaijan on February 7 and had a number of meetings in Baku.
Within the visit, Lennmarker met with the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Parliament, Oktay Asadov, Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, members of the Azerbaijan delegation to the OSCE PA and members of the Parliament Permanent Commission on International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations. Lennmarker was also received by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. The Chairman of the OSCE PA met with the representatives of NGOs and civil societies.
Lennmarker made a speech before the teachers and students of Baku State University and answered their questions. Lennmarker visit to South Caspian region began on February 4. Earlier he visited Armenia and Georgia.
