Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend P.Amirjanov / On 21 May, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, received the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.
President Aliyev noted the importance of the Russian Minister's current visit to Azerbaijan with the aim of discussing the status of current bilateral relations and defining directions of future co-operation. He stated the successful development of co-operation in all areas, including political, economic and humanitarian fields. There are excellent opportunities to strengthen relations, he said. The President stressed the necessity to develop co-operation in different directions.
Voicing his satisfaction during his visit to Azerbaijan, the Russian Minister conveyed to the Azerbaijani President greetings from President Putin. Highly estimating co-operation between the two countries in numerous fields, Lavrov said Russia attaches great importance to its relations with Azerbaijan and he expressed his hope for further relations for the welfare of the two nations
