Three Frontier Posts Opened in Azerbaijani West Region

Azerbaijan, Shamkir / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / Three frontier posts were opened in the West regions of Azerbaijan. The frontier commandant's office Babaser of the Shamkir frontier post and Poylu in the Agstafa region and Garabagli in the Samukh regions were opened on the 7th of June.

Elchin Guliyev, the Commander of the State Border Service and General Lieutenant, Vahid Aliyev, the Adviser of the President on Military Issues attended the ceremony.

Guliyev stated that 7 frontier posts; 1 frontier commandant's office, 2 houses for the officers and a frontier garrison were put into commission on the service territory of the Shamkir frontier group including Gazakh, Agstafa, Samukh, Tovuz and Shamkir regions. The function of the posts will have a positive affect on the protection of the State borders.

Presently, the posts are supplied with modern equipment. This process will continue till the end of 2008.

The President issued a State programme on supplying the borders of the country with modern equipment in 2006 to 2010.

The programme also envisages the means necessary for the supplying process.

The economic capacity of Azerbaijan allows the program to be implemented within a short term.

In 2006 the State Border Service put into commission 300 buildings. About 400 buildings will be put into commission in 2007, including military units, rest centers and sport Olympic centers.
