Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. D.Khatinoglu / "If Sima Tanabi is deported to Iran he will be executed," Zahra Erfani, the acting Iranian human rights activist in Switzerland, said.

The female emigrant, Sima Tanabi, has been residing in Van City of Turkey with her two children. A week ago, Tanabi held a four-day protest in front of the Turkish UN Office to call attention to poor living conditions.

Tanabi reported on 15 August by telephone to Trend Agency that she felt unwell and her two children brought her to the UN Office in Turkey.

"After several minutes I lost consciousness. Despite the fact that I was in a coma for twenty-four hours, no one came to assist. My children told me that the UN representatives refused to help me. This event continued for four days. Police arrested me on the fourth day. Presently, I have been kept with two my children in an Ankara prison. The Turkish police intend to deport me to Iran," Tanabi said.

Tanabi noted that her appeals to the UN's legal services invoking the Geneva Convention over the last three years remain unresolved.

"After graduating university in Iran I began teaching in Sabzvar city. Iranian Authorities attacked my private clinic five times due to my political activities. Finally, they managed to close the clinic. After several threats I was dismissed from the university, and had to leave and seek refuge in Turkey in 2004," Tanabi recounted.

Zahra Erfani, the Chairwoman of the Modern Women's Organization, stated to Trend Agency that despite Tanabi being a professor in the University, she was kept in poor conditions when in Turkey. The Turkish Government wanted to deport her in 2006. However, human rights organizations protested. Erfani appealed to law-defenders demanding attention be paid to the conditions of the Ankara-based prison and to the conditions in which female political dissenters are kept.
