Azerbaijani government satisfied with activities of diasporas

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 18/ Trend , J. Babayeva/ The Azerbaijani government is satisfied with the activities of diasporas.

"We are very glad that Azerbaijani diaspora was created for a short-period of time. Today it is able to influence social and political processes of country they live," Ali Hasanov, head of Socio-Political Department of Presidential Office, told the meeting of the Coordinating Council of Azerbaijanis across the World.

Idea of "Azerbaijanism" can be realized if only diaspora is further strengthened. Azerbaijanis across the world are well aware that they have two tasks - raising awareness about Azerbaijan and assist government in addressing problems, Hasanov said.

"We have enough resources for this purpose and we as a government will make every effort to unit Azerbaijani diaspora as the only way out of the problems is unification and solidarity of Azerbaijanis across the world," he said.

The meeting of the Coordinating Council underway in Baku on Dec. 18 and is dedicated to Solidarity Day of Azerbaijanis around the world which is marked on Dec. 31 every year.

The Coordinating Council has been founded at the 1st conference of Azerbaijanis from across the world held on Nov. 9-10, 2001. The Council comprises 109 people 45 of whom live abroad.

The activities carried out since the 2nd conference of Azerbaijanis will be reviewed and future tasks and goals will be defined at the meeting of the Coordinating Council.
