More than 500 foreign residents illegally living in Azerbaijan were punished, the Azerbaijani State Migration Service said today.

Appropriate measures were conducted against illegal migration in Baku, Bilasuvar, Masalli, Lerik, Astara and Imishli between Dec. 10th and 14th.

Around 529 foreigners and persons without citizenship were found to be in noncompliance of the rules regarding temporary and permanent residence in Azerbaijan. Georgian, Turkish and Russian citizens are amongst the detained foreigners.

Around 468 foreigners and stateless persons, who committed administrative offenses, were deported from Azerbaijan during the week or stayed and had to pay a fine ranging from 300 Manat to 400 Manat as prescribed by article 339.1.1 (Stay of foreigners and stateless persons in Azerbaijan without necessary documents and or live without registration in Azerbaijan), 42 people were punished under art. 339.1.2 (staying on the territory of Azerbaijan with expired or invalid documents) and three people under art. 339.1.4 (Violation of employment rules) of the Azerbaijani Administrative Code.

Employees of the Azerbaijani State Migration Service examined several businesses in Baku to search for and hedge the number of cases of involving foreigners and stateless persons working without permits. Employment rules were violated at five facilities. Necessary documents were compiled.
