The report "On the situation on the provision and protection of human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan" for 2012 was sent to the President of Azerbaijan and government agencies on February 28, the Ombudsman's Office told Trend on Thursday.
The annual report "On the situation on the provision and protection of human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan" for 2012 reflected the suggestions and recommendations for the restoration of human rights and freedoms violated by officials, the protection of human rights and suppression of violations, legal education and the results of scientific and analytical work, collaboration with the government agencies, the public and the media, as well as other suggestions for better provision of the human rights and freedoms.
A hearing on the annual report is scheduled in Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) on March 5.
After the discussion of the report, it will be distributed to the media.
According to the Constitution, the Commissioner for Human Rights must submit an annual report to the President of Azerbaijan no later than two months following the end of the year. The report must also be sent to the Milli Majlis, Cabinet of Ministers, the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court and the Attorney General.
