Academy of sciences: North-West Azerbaijan earthquake information untrue

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 7
Trend: The Republican Seismological Service Centre of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) has commented on the information about an earthquake allegedly occurred in the Gazakh region.

The information about an earthquake in Azerbaijan's Gazakh region on Nov.7 doesn't correspond to reality, the Centre told Trend on Nov.7.

"No tremors were recorded in the Gazakh region by the Republican Seismological Service Centre of Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

"The Gazakh region is located on the border with Armenia, therefore a mine might explode there. In addition, various vibrations can be related to work carried out in a number of industrial facilities located in the village of Dash Salahli in the Gazakh region. But they cannot be related to natural processes and no tremors were recorded in the region," a Centre spokesperson said.
