A preparatory meeting for the court proceedings over another gang member of the former Prime-Minister, Surat Husseynov has been held today, on December 19. This person is Elchin Eyyub oghlu Babayev, Trend reports. Mr. Babayev is accused of Article 179.1 (misappropriation and embezzlement) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan republic. The bill of indictment says that in 1994-1995, Elchin Babayev took part in military group of the Committee Nidjat, which was founded by Surat Husseynov allegedly for the protection of the martyr's families. In 1995, Mr. Babayev, accused of the participation in an attempt of coup d`etat on October 4, 1994, voluntarily surrendered all his arms to the law enforcement bodies of the country. A criminal case was initiated against him. He escaped from the investigation, and search was announced for him. On October 4, 2006, he was detained by officers of a police station of the Kapaz District of Ganja City. He was handed over to the inquiry bodies. Judge Mammadbaghir Zeynalov, headed the legal proceedings over the criminal case. He appointed the judicial meeting for January 25, 2007.
