Deputy Foreign Minister: Measures on Dismissal of Directors of Azeri Schools of   Georgia are Applied to All

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend A.Ismaylova / The Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, Georgi Manjgaladze, informed Trend that the measures on dismissal of the directors of Azerbaijani schools of Georgia is not only fact realized in that part of the country settled by the Azerbaijanis. He stressed that the Education Ministry of Georgia held the attestation for all teachers of secondary schools. Directors of Georgian schools are also amongst those who could not pass the attestation due to these and other reasons.

The attestation dissatisfied not only the Azerbaijanis residing in Georgia, but also representatives of other national minorities. In addition to the exam on knowledge and managerial abilities, the directors of Georgian schools had to pass a test on Georgian language. However, due to the lack of the Georgian language knowledge, few candidates successfully passed the test. As a result, the schools, of which directors could not pass the test, are headed not by the Azerbaijanis. On the other side, the directors of Azerbaijani schools have to possess Azeri language knowledge.

The Deputy Foreign Minister said that work is carried out to teach Georgian language at the expense of own resources of Georgia and in close co-operation with international organizations such as OSCE, Council of Europe.
