PAYSIS names conditions for effectiveness of marketplaces in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 21

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

Marketplaces will be most effective in case of low cost of goods and fast delivery, Samir Nasibov, director general of PAYSIS (the owner of the E-PUL payment system), told Trend on April 21.

“The concept of the marketplace of the Azerbaijani E-PUL payment system is based on these two principles,” Nasibov added.

"We think that if these are qualitatively implemented, it will give e-commerce in Azerbaijan a great boost, and raise attitude towards online shopping will change for the better," he said.

“Marketplaces have been launched on almost all platforms of payment systems in Azerbaijan and many of them are ineffective,” Nasibov said.

“I don’t think that they work effectively,” Nasibov said. “The attitude towards online shopping in Azerbaijan has not changed. For some reason, platform developers think that if a product is sold in the marketplace, then it can be delivered to a buyer in a day or even in a week.”

“Azerbaijan is a fairly small country, in which 80 percent of online shopping account for Baku,” the director general added. “In such cases, it is easier for a person to go to a store and purchase a product within an hour, rather than wait several days for it."

E-PUL is the first payment system in Azerbaijan with a mobile application on both Android and iOS systems.
