BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 11. Mutual investments between Azerbaijan and Spain reached their maximum in the period from 2018 through 2021, Spanish Secretary of State for Trade told Trend.
Spain invested 2.2 million euros in the Azerbaijani economy in 2018, and 12 million euros in 2019, Secretary said.
"Azerbaijani investments in the Spanish economy amounted to 0.02 million euros in 2018 and in subsequent years they practically tended to zero. Spanish companies in Azerbaijan mainly operate in textile retail, hospitality, architecture, consulting, insurance, gas transportation and some other areas," State Secretary added.
Spanish imports from Azerbaijan amounted to 590 million euros, which is 15 percent more than in 2020. Spanish imports from Azerbaijan amounted to 531 million euros in 2020, and 648 million euros in 2019.
Spain increased exports to Azerbaijan by 129 percent in 2021 compared to 2020, up to 80 million euros. This figure was 35 million euros in 2020, a decrease of 48 percent compared to 2019 (68 million euros).
