Poultry Deficit May Raise in Azerbaijan – Poultry Association

Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 April / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / The temporary prohibition imposed on poultry import in Azerbaijan from Iran and Turkey in connection with raise of bird flu, will lead to deficit in the market of the country, Aydin Valiyev, the head of Central State Poultry Association, stated.

Previously, the State Veterinary Service at Agricultural Ministry of Azerbaijan introduced a temporary prohibition on the poultry import, feed and meat from Turkey, Iran, Ukraine, India, Rostov province of Rusia, Canada, Poland, Israel, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Britain from 2007.

According to Valiyev, there may be a rise in the poultry deficit in the country within a month if the problem is not tackled soon.

Society of Republic Poultry Farmers of Azerbaijan includes 29 poultry companies (Mardakan Broyler, Siyazan Broyler, Devechi Broyler, Zira Broyler, Arco Co, Imishli Broyler, Shamkir Broyler and others). 28 of them are poultry company and one is the distributor of medical products.
