Azerbaijan Will Reinforce Efforts to Prevent Illegal Job Placement of Foreigners

Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 November / Trend , corr. U.Ismayilova /"The Labour Inspection attached to the Labour and Social Protection Ministry should reinforce efforts to prevent illegal receive of foreigners to jobs without special permission, Fizuli Alakparov, the Labour Minister, said.

In accordance with the Law 'On migration', an employer must take a special permission for every foreign employee to start his working activity in the country from the Labour Migration Service attached to the Ministry.

Minister instructed the Labour Inspection to intensify a control over labour deals in all spheres of economy, particularly, in the construction sphere.

At a meeting Alakparov discussed the issues put forward the Labour Inspection to provide the rights of employees. Nabi Shukurlu, the Chief of the Labour Inspection, delivered a report on work that has been implemented within ten months.

According to Alakparov, there appeared a necessity to heighten demands to responsible persons in the Inspection and due to this reason minister instructed to reinforce the activity regime.

By the results of a monitoring, which was carried out by the Labour Inspection attached to the Labour and Social Protection Fund, in January - September, there took place 190 accidents and 49 in the construction sphere. As a result of accidents 50 people died and 161 people were injured.

The checks in the construction sector in Azerbaijan became accelerated after the collapse of 16-storeyed building in August 2007 resulted in death of 25 people. According to experts, who examined the scene of the accident, violation of technical security caused the collapse.

The Labour Inspection attached to the Labour and Social Protection Ministry is an organization which investigates the labour condition in the country.
