Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 22 / Trend , S.Babayeva/ "Primary monitoring on warning bird flu in Azerbaijan indicates absence of virus in territory of the country," Yolchu Khanveli, press secretary of the State veterinary service at the Agriculture Ministry, said on Dec. 22.
"A work group has held monitoring on wild birds. None of reasons of infected or dead birds has been revealed," Khanveli said.
The monitoring will cover Absheron peninsular and its surrounding territories, as well as Davachi, Salyan, Agjabadi, Lankaran regions and coastal territory of the Caspian Sea. A special work group comprising employees of Ministries of Health, Agriculture, as well as Ecology and Natural Resources and representatives of Hunters Society is holding research.
The press secretary said that they collected 26 samples of wild birds, as well as specimen of blood from poultry and private enterprises.
Laboratory results on the monitoring will be announced on Dec. 26.
A previous - fifth monitoring in 2008 did not reveal virus of bird flu in the country.
In 2007, the State Service held 12 monitoring, which tested more than 8,000 samples of wild and domestic birds. Virus bearers were not revealed in any of them.
