Kazakhstan earned $2.5 billion from grain and flour exports in 2008, Kazakh Deputy Agriculture Minister Arman Yevniyev said at an international conference.
"Revenues from grain and flour exports hit $2.5 billion in 2008, or 52 percent more than in 2007," he said.
Despite poor weather conditions, 15.6 million tons of grain were harvested in 2008, he said.
A total of 3.8 million tons of grain and flour have been exported thus far.
"Kazakhstan exports grain to 20 countries. Key routes include Central Asia and the Caspian region. Ninety-six percent of the grain and flour exports were for these regions," Yevniyev said.
