Samarkand-based Sino open joint-stock company in cooperation with South Korea's LG Electronics started production of refrigerators.
The project with the cost of $9.8 million was realized within the memorandum on organization of refrigerators' production on the base of Sino, which was inked between Uzeltehsanoat Association and LG Electronics in the mid 2009.
LG Electronics supplied modern line on production of refrigerators, which was installed at the enterprise of Samarkand.
In the first stage (by the end of 2010), Sino will produce 50,000 refrigerators of LG brand. In the second stage (from 2011), the production capacities of Sino will be modernized and new types of refrigerators will be produced at the plant. The plant will start to produce 100,000 refrigerators.
The project realization will provide internal market with high quality products and increase export potential of Uzbekistan.
Sino was launched in 1973. It specializes on production of refrigerators and its capacity is 250,000 refrigerators a year.
The project will be implemented in two stages. On the first stage, 50,000 LG refrigerators should be produced at Sino until the end of 2010.
On the second stage, production of new refrigerators and freezers should be launched from 2011 after the modernization of the industrial base of Sino. Production is set to double on this stage.
