According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), as of December 2009, 3,936 plastic cards were in use in Azerbaijan. It exceeds the similar index in October by 1.5 percent and the index in early 2009 by 8.5 percent.
The operations with debit cards hit 3,544 in this period. Total amount of operations with debit cards made up 414 million manat in November, 2009, exceeding the similar figure of October by 4 percent.
A total of 3.400 operations were held with debit cards through the ATM in the amount of 393 million manat and 107,000 operations through the POS- terminals in the amount of 15 million manat
The number of operations by credit cards hit 174,000 worth 44 million manat in November 2009 which is by 12 percent lower than similar index in October
A total of 72,000 operations were carried out by credit cards through the ATM in the amount of 14 million manat and 17.000 operations by Pos-terminals in the amount of 11 million manat
Total turnover by plastic cards made up 4.822 million manat including 481 million manat by credit cards in January- November 2009
