Turkmenistan fulfills contractual obligations on cotton harvesting

Turkmenistan fulfilled contractual obligation on the harvesting of cotton. The country harvested about 1.05 million tons of cotton, the Turkmen agriculture ministry reported.  

"The gathering is underway and farmers do not reduce its rates in order to collect the whole harvest." The areas under cultivation hit 550,000 hectares in Turkmenistan.

This year the weather is favorable for cotton. The majority of fields throughout the country are sown with the local cotton varieties including middle-fibre varieties Yoloten-7, С 4727, 149F, Dashoguz-120 and Serdar and fine-fibre varieties 9871-Yo, 9946-Yo, Yoloten-14 and Yoloten-32 that give rich crops under climatic and soil conditions of different regions.

The Mary and Akhal provinces are expected to show the highest results on the cotton harvesting. The  quality of product will be checked by the Turkmen Standards Committee.
