The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry is considering the possibility of building a mountain tunnel at the entrance of Baku from the south, a source in the Ministry reported.
The source said that this idea still needs some work, but such a project could be considered. According to him, the project should justifiably come to life, because its implementation will relieve the flow of cars at the exit and entrance to the Azerbaijani capital.
The source did not list the details and dates regarding the possible construction of such tunnels, saying that it was still just an idea. However, he did not exclude the possibility of building four-lane tunnels through the rock.
"If it eases traffic, this idea can be discussed," the source said.
The source noted that the possibility of such a project will also depend on whether it is funded.
