China XD Group completes construction of electricity supply facilities in Tashkent

China XD Group has completed the construction of electric power supply facilities in Tashkent, covering increasing workloads of intensified buildings, providing reliable and quality power supply of the capital, a source in Uzbekenergo State Joint Stock Company (SJC) told Trend.

China XD Group has completed the construction of electric power supply facilities in Tashkent, covering increasing workloads of intensified buildings, providing reliable and quality power supply of the capital, a source in Uzbekenergo State Joint Stock Company (SJC) told Trend.

As part of the project worth $52.8 million, there were built substations "Sayilogokh" with 110 kW and Keles with 220 kW, switching point "Navoi" with 110 kW and laid cable line of 110 kW with a total length of 62.3 km.

In early 2009, China China XD Group signed a contract with Uzbekenergo worth $27.74 million to supply "turnkey" equipment for the project. Building and construction works were carried out by Uzbekenergo.

The project was financed through a loan from the Chinese Eximbank in amount of $26.3 million and own funds of Uzbekenergo. The loan was provided by Eximbank in June 2009 for a period of 20 years, including five-year grace period, under two percent per annum.

Currently, Uzbekistan's power system includes 45 power plants with a total capacity of over 12,400 MW, including the total capacity of 16 power plants of Uzbekenergo - 12,040 MW.
In 2010, electricity production in Uzbekistan increased by 3.5 percent - up to 51.712 billion kW/h
