Head of the EU Mission in Georgia Philip Dimitrov satisfied with the progress of negotiations on Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

"We are pleased that Russia and Georgia are close to reach an agreement that, we believe, will be very useful for both sides," Dimitrov's statement on this matter reads. "We express our full support to the efforts of Switzerland, thanks to which a positive resolution of the issue appeared."

The EU expects that a decision on Russia's accession to the WTO to be taken at the WTO ministerial in 2011.
