Uzbekistan's national airline Uzbekiston Havo Yullari has launched the vertical separation minimum system (RVSM), the Airline's Press Service reported on Thursday.

"Starting from midnight on November 17, Uzbekiston Havo Yullari will transit to the vertical separation minimum system in order to increase the throughput capacity by reducing the established intervals between flight separations," the report said.

The airline claims the transition will provide a more efficient use of Uzbekistan's airspace by increasing its throughput capacity by up to six additional separations with time and fuel consumption as well as ensuring flight safety.

Serious preparatory work took place prior to the new system's launch. In particular there were drafted amendments to legal provisions and RVSM personnel and instructors received additional training.

The national airline Uzbekiston Havo Yullari is the wholly owned state airline of Uzbekistan.

The airline's parking bay accounts for 26 Western manufactured aircraft, including 10 Boeing aircraft (5 Boeing 767-300 and 5 Boeing 757-200), three A-310 airbuses, eight A-320-200 airbuses, three middle-range RJ-85 aircraft and two A300-600F cargo planes.

Between January-September 2011, the airline increased its passenger transportation by 7.7 per cent against the same period last year carrying a total of 1,727,000 passengers at a time when cargo transportation also increased by 5.2 per cent up to 36,000 tons.

In January-September, the airline carried out 18,054 flights, which are up by 246 from the same period last year. The flights consisted of 4636 long haul flights, 6379 as flights to CIS countries and 7039 domestic flights.

The Uzbek airline carries out flights to 21 cities in Europe, America, Middle East and Asia and to 22 cities in the CIS and to 11 destinations inside the country.
