Agricultural product prices increase by 10.3 per cent in 2011

Prices for agricultural products increased by 1.2 per cent in December,2011 compared to November, 2011 and by 10.3 per cent in 2011 compared to 2010, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee told Trend on Monday.

Livestock product prices increased by 11.3 per cent in 2011 compared to 2010. Cattle, with the exception of calves, increased by 3.8 per cent in 2011, sheep and goats by 5.7 per cent, cow and buffalo milk by 9.8 per cent, buffalos 6.7 per cent, eggs 97.5 per cent, honey 4.2 per cent and unwashed wool 3.6 per cent. Poultry prices went down by 20.9 per cent in 2011 as did fish and related products by 10.6 per cent in August, 2011.

Annual plant prices went up 7.3 per cent and perennials by 20.3 per cent last year. Of the seasonal annuals, prices for peeled, dried leguminous vegetables increased by 41.2 per cent, maize 17 per cent, wheat 18.4 per cent, green leguminous vegetables 11.1 per cent, leafy vegetables 15.5 per cent, rhizocarpous and bulbous plants 5.7 per cent, potatoes 10 per cent, cotton 6.8 per cent and fodder plants 15 per cent.

Prices for watermelons and melons decreased by 1.7 per cent and there was no change for sugar beet.

Of the perennials, tropical and subtropical fruits rose by 1.9 per cent, citrus plants 3.1 per cent, large fruits by 49.2 per cent, other orchards, shrub fruits and nuts 17.2 per cent. Prices for grapes decreased by 11.1 per cent and for berries by 1.3 per cent.
