Baku to be center of discussion of food security concept until 2050 in Europe and Central Asia

Twenty-eighth Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for Europe and the 37th session of the European Commission on Agriculture will be held in Baku on April 17-20.
Event of European NGOs and civil society consultations will be held on April 16 in the frame of the conference, the Ministry of Agriculture told Trend.
The 28th Regional Conference will be organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan.
Participation of EC officials and 53 member countries of FAO of Europe and Central Asia is expected. Other UN agencies, a number of intergovernmental and international non-governmental organizations are invited as observers.
The European Commission on Agriculture - a preparatory event to the Regional Conference for Europe. The work program and budget for Europe and Central Asia for 2012-2013, as well as land and gender equality will be discussed at the 37th session of the European Commission on Agriculture, which will be held on April 17-18.
The main purpose of the Regional Conference on April 19-20 is the adoption of FAO programs in the region for 2012-2013, prioritizing the development of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in the region in 2014-2015.
Meeting on "Regional food security policies, prospects and challenges provide products in 2050" will be held in the frame of the regional conference on April 19. The meeting will create conditions for a debate on the documents, according to the expectations and calculations of turnover by 2050, which will be presented to the participating countries, to prepare special short-term and long-term plans to ensure food security for the discussion of political reform.
As part of a regional conference events and exhibitions are planned in order to provide a platform for views exchange and discussion among the participating countries.
