Iranian Central Bank Governor Mahmoud Bahmani has called the International Monetary Fund to provide the country with funds to compensate for economic losses as a result of the global sanctions against the Islamic Republic's oil sector.

Bahmani met with the IMF's Managing Director Christine Lagarde on the sidelines of the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington, the central bank's public relations department reported.

The Iranian official discussed different monetary and banking issues, including the sanctions against Iran's banking, financial and oil sectors.

Bahmani referred to Iran as one of the countries which are in constructive relations with the two international entities. So, it expects the IMF to support all the member states as a priority.

The IMF head, for her part, expressed concern over the oil price fluctuations and its effects on the global economic growth, hoping to remove sanctions against the central bank of Iran.
