International Bank of Azerbaijan represents country in GIFF 2012

The International Bank of Azerbaijan as a leading bank of Azerbaijan and the pioneer in implementation of Islamic Banking in the region was invited by the Bank Negara Malaysia to participate in the third Global Islamic Finance Forum (GIFF), the bank’s press release says on Wednesday.

The International Bank of Azerbaijan as a leading bank of Azerbaijan and the pioneer in implementation of Islamic Banking in the region was invited by the Bank Negara Malaysia to participate in the third Global Islamic Finance Forum (GIFF), the bank's press release says on Wednesday.

The GIFF is held in Kuala Lumpur from 18th to 20th September 2012. GIFF 2012 is themed "Internationalization of Islamic Finance: Bridging Economies" in recognition of the tremendous international prospect surrounding the thriving Islamic Finance industry.

"We are here to introduce our country and give more detailed information about banking sector of Azerbaijan. Most of participants are interesting in Azerbaijan as one of the fastest growing economies in the world. They see a lot of opportunities for cooperation in the financial sector. Islamic banking is not an exception. Today Malaysia plays very significant role in the development of Islamic Banking in the world. We can use experience of our Malaysian colleagues and develop Islamic Banking in Azerbaijan," Behnam Gurbanzada, Director Islamic Banking in IBA, said.

GIFF 2012 will feature financial industry practitioners, regulators, Shariah scholars and business communities from around the globe to discuss the prospects for Islamic finance in bridging economies and strengthening connectivity. This event will be organized` in collaboration with the Securities Commission Malaysia, Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM), Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM), Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA), International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) and Bursa Malaysia.
