Azerbaijan, Baku, August 3 / Trend H. Valiyev /

The Environmental Analytical Information Agency (ECORES) will unveil the proposals on September 6 to solve the problem with traffic jams in Baku, ECORES head Samir Isayev told Trend on Friday.

Isayev said that ECORES's proposals which will be submitted to the Ministry of Transport, envisage the implementation of some projects that contribute to eliminate traffic congestion on the roads of Baku. Among them are proposals to restore suburban railway, commissioning trolleys and trams, express buses.

"A direct route from Koroglu metro station to Mardakan settlement is an example of commissioning high-speed buses and the buses in the settlement itself," he said. It is possible that in this case one will have to use two buses. Therefore, we also propose to introduce a single public transport payment system. This experience is now used in neighboring Russia. It envisages the use of three passenger vehicles within an hour."

Isayev said that the construction of "interceptor" car parks at the entrances to the capital will play an important role.

"Besides reducing congestion on the roads of the capital, this project has a number of other advantages," he added. "One of them is that it will arouse the interest of the private sector. Entrepreneurs will show an interest in investing in the construction of many facilities (garages, shops, catering facilities)."

According to these proposals, a tax on car owners' property is planned to be introduced. This kind of the tax envisages the payment of a certain amount depending on the car engine.
