By Rahim Zamanov - Trend:

Iran's share of bunkering in the Persian Gulf currently stands at 25 per cent.

Iran sold 1.836 million tons of furnace oil in the previous calendar year, which ended March 20.

The figure was around 2.2 million and 4.2 million tons respectively in the calendar years of 1390 (ended March 20, 2012) and 1389 (ended March 20, 2011).

Iran has recently developed its bunkering centers in Bandar Abbas, Kharg, Bushehr, Qeshm, Assaluyeh, and Chabahr port cities.

The Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Mostafa Kashkouli said on Nov. 22 that Iran is not using its full capacity for oil swap and bunkering.

"Oil swap and bunkering could be very profitable for Iran," the IRNA News Agency quoted him as saying.

"Iran needs to find some ways to benefit from this economic capacity as much as possible," Kashkouli said.

Iran's fifth five-year development plan (2010-2015) aims for the country to sell 4.2 million tons of oil a year and hold a 30 percent share of bunkering in the Persian Gulf.
